Interesting Night

We’re house-sitting/Kevin-sitting for my aunt and uncle again this week, just for a few days… got there from work yesterday afternoon, and after being online for about 10 minutes, the internet went out. That’s happened at their house before, and it’s come back after a few minutes, but not this time. It never came back. It was still out this morning. That SUCKS. I had poster work to do, so I at least had something to keep me busy, but I couldn’t get online to do anything – not even to check the facebook message my cousin had sent me with information I needed about the poster. I was finally able to fumble my way to that message on my phone, but it took forever.

So, we fixed dinner, watched a movie, I worked on the poster, Chase worked on commission stuff. It rained and stormed off and on, and around 10:45 we shut the TV off and went to bed.

Just before 11, there was a huge crack of thunder and lightning, the cable on the TV in the bedroom went out for a moment… and then… the house alarm.

It’s SO LOUD!!! I’m sure the neighbors loved it. I forgot about the keypad in the bedroom, and ran to the one by the front door, and punched in the code… but it didn’t go off. None of the lights on the keypads were flashing, so it wasn’t normal… it was just the stupid, loud, horrible siren.

I called my uncle’s cellphone (I’m not even sure where they are right now, I know they’re on a business trip, but I don’t know where), no answer… I tried my aunt’s cellphone, no answer. I was starting to freak out and Kevin was full-fledged freaking out. Luckily then my aunt called back, I explained what was going on, and she told us who the security company was. Chase looked up the phone number and I stayed on the line with my aunt, in case she needed to give us their code or something.

I guess because it was lightning that set it off, the security company didn’t even show that our alarm was going off (that was lucky, because for as long as it was going off, they would have totally sent the cops ten minutes ago, by this point – and that’s a huge fine for my aunt and uncle!!), they told us to find the override button. My aunt told us where the main box was, and we fumbled around and finally found the override button, FINALLY shutting that horrid sound off.

We waited up for a while after that, in case the neighbors had called the cops or something… no cops ever showed, so we finally went to sleep, and slept sooooooooooooo good. LOL.

We wanted to go to Nashville this weekend, go to the prop party, and the ren fair, but Chase has a softball game that night and he doesn’t want to miss it šŸ™
